How to Improve Netflix Recommendations Using Official Profile Controls

Netflix does not provide a single “algorithm reset” button or promise a 200% improvement. Recommendations are shaped by signals associated with a profile, including viewing activity and interactions. You can, however, review viewing history, hide titles and create a separate profile when viewing habits have become mixed.
- Review the viewing activity for the affected profile.
- Hide an individual title, series or all visible history when appropriate.
- Use separate profiles for people with different tastes.
- Adjust maturity ratings, blocked titles and autoplay settings.
- Secure the account if unfamiliar devices or viewing appears.
How to hide viewing history
- Open Netflix in a web browser and go to Account.
- Choose the relevant profile and open Viewing activity.
- Select the hide icon next to a title. For an episode, Netflix may offer the option to hide the entire series.
- Use Hide all only if you understand that it changes the visible history for that profile.
What about “secret genre codes”?
Category URLs and numeric identifiers may expose narrower browsing collections, but availability depends on country, catalog, device and time. They do not unlock content outside the subscription’s licensed regional catalog and they do not reset personalization.
The smartphone circuit image and floating “algorithm structure” image were removed because they suggested an unsupported technical reset process. The home-viewing image remains.
